America’s water infrastructure is falling apart. Fixing the water problem – repairing old infrastructure, and creating new sources and distribution systems to support growth – is a defining economic problem of this century. It is also hugely expensive.
The solution is to step-change the cost dynamics of water by applying technology, specifically “Internet of Things” (IOT) solutions – software, sensors, communications, analytics, automation, etc. – to our last-century water sector.
To address these issues, Water RIOT is fostering an ecosystem of water technology innovation in Central Texas to provide resiliency to our water systems by incorporating internet of things technologies. Water RIOT is accomplishing this goal by bringing together water utilities, water researchers, IOT technologists, start-ups, and other stakeholders to spark collaboration and accelerated technology diffusion.
